Important message for Holland and St George's residents
This is an update for residents of the Holland and St George’s estates to explain how we’re tackling recent issues with rodents in outside areas.
Main content
We’re really sorry that residents of the Holland estate have had to contend with rodents in the grounds of their buildings. At East End Homes, we fully understand how serious and distressing this is for residents, and we’re doing everything we can in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council to address the issue.
We’ve provided updates for specific areas below and will continue to keep you informed as we work hard to resolve this unfortunate situation.
Tower Hamlets Council provides a pest control service for residents. If you have any concerns or would like to report an issue, please call 020 7364 5007.
Wentworth carpark, Holland estate
We’ve removed all signs of any rodent activity and filled in holes in the pavement to the left outside the front entrance of the block.
The Tower Hamlets Council pest control team are also assessing further treatment processes for the block’s communal areas.
Outside Brune and Barnet House, Holland estate
The Tower Hamlets Council pest control team is currently treating outside areas and working on a long-term plan. We will survey drains for any other breaks created by the rodents that may need repairing. Over the coming weeks we’ll continue to fill in any holes found in the grounds of Barnet House with wire wool and concrete.
On Thursday 14 May, a member of our team met with a Tower Hamlets pest control officer at Brune and Barnet Houses to discuss further ideas to help improve the situation of the rodent problem. We’ll keep you updated as plans are put into action.
Pest control will continue to monitor the situation and remove any rodents for at least a further 35 days.
We are also going to seal any holes around all the rainwater down pipes at the rear of the block. This will stop any access for the rodents.
The Tower Hamlets pest control team continues to treat any areas affected by rodents due to the nearby food market.
Stockholm and Betts House, St George’s estate
The Tower Hamlets Council pest control team is treating the area and will continue to do so with our full support and approval.
We’ll continue to work closely with the Tower Hamlets Council pest control team to find a long-term solution to the rodent problem on Holland and St George’s estates.
Managing the rodent population in London is a city-wide challenge. Please do be mindful to make sure your rubbish is disposed of in bins and don’t be tempted to feed wildlife, unless using bird feeders. Our team is working hard to proactively keep on top of the matter and we will keep you informed of our progress. If you would like to report a concern or rodent sighting please contact Customer Services on 020 7517 4700.
