Tackling ASB

As part of a reorganisation of aspects of our service provision, we’ll have more dedicated support for ASB cases. We’ll also be issuing updated guidance for residents on identifying, recording and reporting ASB

Health and wellbeing

The cost of living crisis continues to impact residents, especially those on low incomes. In the TSM survey, 60% of respondents expressed that they are ‘very concerned’ about it. As we operate in a borough with high deprivation rates, especially among older people, we are particularly mindful of the need to provide help, advice and support to residents. This includes

Social value

  • Leveraging partnerships with contractors to deliver a range of services for residents beyond managing their homes. This includes apprenticeships and training, and practical advice about tackling small jobs around the home.

  • We fund and work with local partners to run community-based initiatives that support and empower local people and bring them together.

Case Study: Mohila Ongon fruit festival

We enjoy a fruitful partnership with the Mohila Ongon Association, an award-winning women’s group that hosts an annual festival at Southern Grove Community Centre in Mile End. The festival brings together people from diverse ethnic backgrounds in a celebration of the fruits and culinary culture of Bangladesh. Tower Hamlets has the largest Bangladeshi community in the UK.

Case Study: Jim Ford, Volunteer of the Year

Jim Ford has lived on the St George's estate in Shadwell for many decades. He first got involved with East E nd Homes by volunteering to help shape the Community Orchard on the St George’s estate. Through the Orchard he discovered a passion for volunteering and has gone on to support many grassroot organisations and residents. Jim has also been closely involved  in the Tress for Cities initiative referenced above. In 2025 he was named as Tower Hamlets Volunteer of the Year.

Case Study: Trees for Cities

We partnered with the environmental charity Trees for Cities to improve access to green space on the St George's estate by planting and establishing over 2,600 trees on the estate and neighbouring gardens. The area now has a tree canopy cover of 19%—close to the 20% minimum recommendation by Forest Research—meaning that residents are less exposed to the harmful effects of environmental hazards, like increased temperatures and air pollution.

Case Study: Community Events

Throughout 2025 East End Homes is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Back in January 2005 we were registered as a social landlord. From April of that same year Mile End estates transferred to us from Tower Hamlets Council after a vote by residents. Mile End was followed by Island Gardens, St George's, Holland and Glamis estates.

Over the past 20 years we've been working with residents to deliver high-quality homes and services as well as developing opportunities for local communities to thrive.

In addition to our annual summer garden parties, delivered with support from our corporate partner Morgan Stanley, we've been hosting a series of 20th anniversary celebration events on our estates. In collaboration with Morgan Sindall and Evergreen Security, we've invited residents to take part int he summer of celebration.

These events help us to improve our visibility on the estates and develop good relationships with residents as well as bringing family, friends and neighbours together in a safe, welcoming environment.
