Holland Estate Fire Remediation Programme
East End Homes has planned a fire remediation programme for a number of blocks in Holland Estate, including Bradbury and Ladbroke. These blocks were developed by Telford Homes, who are leading on the required remediation investigations and works. Please see the brief explanation of the programme's progress below.
Building Remediation – Background and Progress
In 2023, Telford Homes signed the Government’s building remediation pledge, committing to address fire-safety issues in buildings which they developed and where remediation was found to be required. A dedicated remediation team was established by Telford Homes who are working with East End Homes as freehold owner and Responsible Entity (RE) for the building to progress remediation works.
Telford Homes and their design team are currently completing intrusive investigations involving carefully opening sections of the building to examine the construction and materials within the structure. On completion, a detailed review of all the information will be carried out under the direction of their appointed Fire Engineer to determine the scope of remediation works required to the block.
Introduced interim fire safety measures to ensure block safety included a Waking Watch, (trained personnel who patrol the building and look out for signs of fire, raising the alarm and supporting evacuation if needed), followed by installation of a new fire alarm system. The block was also moved to an immediate simultaneous evacuation strategy where all residents leave the building immediately in the event of the alarm being raised.
The Waking Watch was removed from the blocks on Tuesday 11th August 2026 with the support of the fire engineer. Raising of the alarm to start the immediate simultaneous evacuation is now reliant upon the installed fire alarm system which automatically notifies the fire brigade via a constant monitoring centre in the event of activation.
