New Trees for Glamis Estate
Environmental charity Trees for Cities will be planting new trees this Spring on the Glamis Estate. These new trees will add to an impressive tally of one million trees planted since 1993 by Trees for Cities in the UK and abroad, including many for EastendHomes.
The new trees will include Black Poplars, the tree species that gave Poplar its name, now endangered and one of Britain’s rarest native trees. The trees were recommended for use by Tower Hamlets Council’s Biodiversity Officer as being beneficial for wildlife, with catkins providing an early source of pollen and nectar for bees and other insects, and seeds which can be eaten by birds.
Each year London’s trees remove 2.4 million tonnes of air pollution, including carbon dioxide, dust and other gaseous toxins, as well as making estates greener and more attractive.
