Building our future together: back to a compliant governance rating

As a community-led housing association serving residents across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, we are pleased to announce that the Regulator of Social Housing has upgraded our governance rating from G3 to G2, confirming that we meet its governance requirements.

This successful outcome is recognition of our collective effort alongside East End Homes Board, senior leadership team and members of staff who take care of our five estates . Working t ogether, we have delivered a coordinated programme to improve how East End Homes undertakes its duties as a responsible social landlord.

Commenting on the regrading, Daniel Killian, East End Homes Chief Executive, said: When I joined East End Homes, I saw an organisation with great people, strong communities and enormous potential. Since then, I have seen colleagues, residents and Board members work tirelessly to strengthen the organisation and create the foundations we need for the future.

Returning to a compliant governance grading is an important milestone and recognition of our collective effort. It reflects the progress we have made in strengthening governance, improving oversight and putting in place the building blocks of a stronger organisation .

What matters most, however, is what this enables us to do next. Residents have told us where they want to see improvement, and we have listened. Many of the changes we are making and the plans we are delivering have been shaped directly by resident feedback and experiences.

We now have the foundations in place to build the organisation residents want and deserve. There is a real sense of momentum across East End Homes, with ambitious plans for homes, services and communities already under way.

Achieving G2 is an important milestone, but for me, the most exciting part is what comes next. We have a clear direction, a strong partnership with residents and a shared determination to keep improving. I am confident that the best chapters in the East End Homes story are yet to be written.”

Jacqui Bateson, Chair of East End Homes said: This milestone reflects the huge commitment and determination of everyone involved to r eturn East End Homes to a compliant governance rating. The Board remains committed to supporting the organisation to deliver the improvements residents want and ensuring that their voices shape its future direction.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this achievement, particularly residents, whose feedback, challenge and insight have helped East End Homes become a stronger organisation. We welcome this recognition from the Regulator and look forward to building on it in the years ahead.”

Throughout the process to gain a G2 rating, the focus has been on the needs and priorities of residents. East End Homes’ plans for homes, services and communities have been shaped directly by residents through formal and informal feedback mechanisms. This principle of genuine resident involvement has guided decision -making, shaped priority-setting and continues to be applied as the organisation delivers its ambitious plans for the future.
