Les Eldon RIP

Headshot of Les Eldon

Les Eldon, former Board member and Chair of the Board of EastendHomes (EeH), sadly passed away on New Years Eve.

A tenant of Denning Point for many years, Les was a conscientious and hardworking member of our Board and also played an important role on the local estate board for several years following the transfer of the Holland estate to EeH in 2006.

Both Les and his wife Georgina were active in the Denning Point tenants and residents association at the time of Housing Choice, and as supporters of EeH commitment to providing local and accountable housing services, were heavily involved in the resident consultation process leading up to the successful estate ballot in 2005.

Before his retirement Les had worked in a range of jobs, latterly with Georgina running a local pub near Brick Lane in Spitalfields. He can be seen and heard reminiscing about their years as publicans and life in Spitalfields in the film East End Lives (2), which was shown at the East End Film Festival in in 2010.

After retiring from the Board in 2018 Les remained closely involved with EeH, serving on the Service Review Committee and other bodies and continuing to be actively involved with his local community at Denning Point.

Les was well known, very well liked and much respected by our staff, particularly the local housing and caretaking team at the Holland estate office.

He will be sadly missed by all of us at Eastend Homes.
