Glamis heating and hot water replacement project

Glamis Estate (West): 1-47 Glamis Road (odd), 13-28 Redcastle Close, 1–65 Tarbert Walk, 294–430 Cable Street (Evens)

The communal heating and hot water system serving the above homes on the Glamis estate is no longer fit for purpose. It's no longer able to provide reliable, efficient or satisfactory heating and hot water to residents. The pipework is severely corroded and prone to regular leaks and breakdowns are costly and time consuming to repair. 

What is East End Homes doing to address this?

We're proposing to install ndividual systems to homes due to the higher costs of renewing the communal system.

Why was the individual gas boiler option selected?

This is the most cost-efficient option in terms of installation and gas is the most economic energy form for most residents.

What's happening now? 

Currently, our focus is on working with Cadent Gas Ltd, the regional gas network operator and only body able to upgrade the existing supply infrastructure network serving the estate. As the works are complex, Cadent Gas Ltd needs to secure specialist consultant engineers to progress the design. It will take up to 6 months to complete this stage. 

We also need to appoint consultant heating engineers to help us design and tender for the works required to install new heating and hot water systems within residents' homes. We will engage these consultant heating engineers to progress the design and specification for the heating installation works inside each home once the gas infrastructure works have been completed by Cadent Gas Ltd.

Can I have electrical heating instead? 

All homes will require an individual heating system to be installed, whether by us or individual freeholders and leaseholders, who may arrange their own installation with our consent.
