Glamis Estate to benefit from sustainability funding
Glamis Estate to benefit from £918,580 Heat Network Efficiency Fund, helping to make 265 homes more sustainable and cost effective to run
EastendHomes is one of just 24 organisations from across the UK to be awarded funding from the Government’s Heat Network Efficiency Scheme Round 5. The principal aim of the funding is to help make heating networks in homes and businesses to be more efficient and sustainable. Supporting wider net zero economy targets.
Our successful funding bid secured £918,580 for the Glamis estate, EastendHomes will be match funding this to create a £2.8 million investment. The funds will significantly improve and modernise the existing heating system benefitting 265 residents’ homes. The funding will go towards:
- upgrading the current heat network
- replacing pipework
- introducing customer controls in each home and the main plant room
- improving insulation across the estate.
Roger Thompson, EastendHomes Head of Asset Management said:
We’re delighted our application for Glamis Estate has been successful. The funds will make a lasting difference to the current heating system and ultimately improve residents’ lives while making homes more sustainable and cost effective to run. Work is set to begin later this year and we will be consulting with all Glamis residents throughout.
The Heat Network Energy Efficiency Scheme estimates the impact of this funding round extends beyond financial benefits. Emissions savings are said to be the equivalent to taking 938 diesel cars off the road each year.
