Gas Safety Week 2015
Gas Safety Week is an annual safety week that aims to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances.
It is co-ordinated by Gas Safe Register with support from the gas industry including retailers, manufacturers, consumer bodies and the public.
Did you know?
- Every year thousands of people across the UK are diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. It is a highly poisonous gas. You can’t see it, taste it or smell it, but it can kill quickly with no warning.
- Gas Safe Register estimates that there are around 7,500 illegal gas fitters operating across the UK and up to 250,000 illegal gas jobs may be carried out each year (Gas Safe Register Research 2009).
The risks associated with poor gas maintenance are why all EastendHomes tenants are required to grant access each year for a service of their gas appliances, which will be carried out by a technician who is Gas Safe Registered. It is vital that you allow us access to your property to carry out these checks each year. If we are unable to gain access after several missed appointments we will ask a court for an injunction granting us access. We will offer you convenient appointments, including early, late and Saturday appointments as required.
We also strongly recommend to all of our leaseholders that they have their boiler serviced annually, which will help to keep you, your family and your neighbours safe, as well as helping to avoid unexpected repair bills by identifying problems early. If you are letting out your leasehold property, you are required by law to have your appliances serviced each year.
