Aladdin brings his magic lamp to Mile End

Laughter, dancing, cheers and boos could be heard at Southern Grove Community Centre on Friday 3 December when we hosted our 2022 Christmas panto.

This  year Aladdin and his magic lamp came to Mile End to wow the crowds with story-telling adventures along with lots of jokes, songs, and some essential audience participation.

After the constraints of Covid and previous year’s shows being put on hold the pantomime received a warm welcome from the local community.

Performed by theatre group Charlie Chaplin's, the pantomime has become an annual tradition for EastendHomes' younger residents to enjoy. Along with the theatrical delights there was some delicious festive treats including popcorn, stollen, mince pies, and a significant amount of chocolate coins.

Paul Wilson, EastendHomes’ Community Manager said;

Our Christmas panto is a lovely opportunity for friends and neighbours to get together and enjoy a tradition that has been making people smile for centuries. Did you know the first performance of Aladdin was in a London theatre in 1788? It was great to see so much laughter and everyone enjoy the show.

A  programme of festive events continues over the next couple of weeks including Children’s Party on 8 December and OAP Christmas Lunch on 13 December. To find out more contact paul.wilson@eastendhomes.net.
