Young and old share Christmas cheer

Pensioners Lunch (including the Managing Director)

Festivities kicked off on Wednesday 2 December with a delicious Christmas lunch for older residents, a Christmas party for the little ones and a surprise visit from Father Christmas himself.

First up was a very special yuletide lunch where the guests of honour were a hundred OAPs. This well-established community event brings together older residents from across EastendHomes estates to have a good old knees-up with staff and volunteers from Fitch Ratings, a financial information services company based in Canary Wharf. As well as lots of party fun and Christmas carol sing-alongs, residents were treated to a slap-up three course Christmas lunch.

The delicious menu was created by India Hamilton, Head Chef for the Shuffle Film Festival. Residents enjoyed smoked salmon, turkey with all the trimmings (including lots of Brussels sprouts of course) and a variety of mouth-watering desserts such as handmade Florentines and a Swedish rice pudding cake.

Later in the day children from Mile End joined for the kids' party and got to give Santa their Christmas lists.

Ho Ho Five Paul Wilson, EastendHomes Community Engagement Manager said:

“It’s a real pleasure to work on these events for our community. They are all the more special because so many people get involved and volunteer to make them as much as fun as possible. Thanks to everyone it’s been a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year. On behalf of everyone at EastendHomes we’d like to wish our community a very merry Christmas.”
