Holland Estate Regeneration Update

Since February 2014, following an initial request by the Holland Estate Management Board, EastendHomes has been consulting residents of Barnett House; Bernard House; Brune House; Carter House; and Wheler House on options for the blocks.

The most recent stage of this consultation consisted of questionnaires to all tenants and leaseholders and a number of block consultations held during October and November 2015. The questionnaire gave residents the opportunity to indicate preferences on the options and block-by-block consultation was held to give further opportunity to discuss these options in depth.

The EastendHomes Board reviewed the findings of this consultation on 26th November 2015. There was a clear indication that the residents of Barnett; Bernard; Brune and Carter Houses wanted further information on a repairs/refurbishment plan rather than any further information on a redevelopment option. EastendHomes will therefore undertake further consultation in 2016 on repairs/refurbishment options for these blocks, including consultation on the construction of new lift towers.

The Board therefore agreed that the 'Initial Demolition Notice' which had been issued to the tenants of these blocks should be withdrawn. A 'Revocation Notice' was served on all affected properties on 23rd December 2015, and a copy is included below.

The responses to the consultation from Wheler House indicated a more mixed picture with a greater degree of support for redevelopment. Further consultation with the tenants and leaseholders of this block on all options will be carried out.
