New initiative helps to build bridges for job seekers
At EastendHomes we try to keep a careful handle on Value for Money (VFM), asking our staff and residents for their suggestions on how we can get things done more efficiently without impact on our quality of service. When we make savings, we like to reinvest some of this money into projects which benefit our residents.
We recently told you about trees which have been planted on estates as one of the projects supported by EastendHomes by reinvesting VFM savings. We're also working in 2018 with our partners at the Bromley by Bow Centre (BbBC) who are delivering an employability programme called 'Building Bridges' - this scheme looks to help local people of working age who are looking for work, self-employment or training. Support is provided through 1-to-1 sessions, and group sessions covering areas such as CV writing, preparing for interviews, making online job applications, and much more.
This scheme is based 1 day per week at our Island Gardens Housing Centre, and complements the employability programme already run by the BbBC at The Centre in Mile End. If you would like to be referred to this scheme, please contact your local housing centre.
And if you have any ideas about how we can continue to deliver improved Value for Money, please also let us know.
