Scheme completes and new Head Office opens

Tower Hamlets Mayor, John Biggs, visited Spitalfields on 3rd September to officially open the new pedestrian plaza built as part of EastendHomes redevelopment on the Holland estate.

The scheme has involved demolition of poor quality blocks around Denning Point on Commercial Street, and replacement with new homes, shops and Community Centre. EastendHomes new office at Resolution Plaza has also opened as part of the scheme.

In total 68 new homes for social rent have been built together with 13 new shared ownership apartments. This represents a very large increase in the amount of social housing provision on this part of the Holland estate. Private homes for market sale have also been built by development partner Telford Homes.

In declaring the scheme officially complete, Mayor Biggs said that it was a good example of partnership working which has enabled poor quality blocks to be replaced with new modern energy efficient homes which meet the needs and aspirations of local people.

Neil McAree, Chair of EastendHomes said he was proud of the work EastendHomes had undertaken on this part of Holland estate where the number of homes for social rent had been more than doubled at a low cost due to the partnership work with Telford Homes.
