Our new Corporate Plan for 2019-2024: Tell us what you think

The Board of EastendHomes (EeH) recently approved a draft of our new Corporate Plan for consultation with residents.

EeH would like to invite residents to comment on the new plan and in particular whether our strategy and objectives will contribute to meeting the needs and aspirations of our residents.

As part of our consultation there will be a presentation to all the estate boards, as well as information provided to all residents in our quarterly Newsletter and through EeH web-site.  A copy of the full draft of the plan can be viewed here [pdf] 698KB .

In summary, the Corporate Plan sets out our vision and values, EeH strategic objectives, governance and service delivery arrangements, and our plans for continuing to invest in our homes and estates.  It also provides an overview of the financial context to our work.

The key themes in the plan are similar to those previously, which covered the period from 2014-19.  They broadly are:

  • Providing excellent housing services
  • Business growth
  • Investing in EeH estates and assets
  • Maximising the social and financial return on our assets
  • Empowering and involving residents in our work

In particular, the plan sets out EeH’s commitment to continuing to provide locally based housing services from accessible and convenient local housing and this is how residents have consistently said they want housing services to be provided, rather than service provision via a call centre.  We also intend to continue to provide estate cleaning and caretaking through EeH local caretaking teams based on the estates.

In terms of the business growth of the organisation, the Board is keen that EeH continues to explore all opportunities for providing more genuinely affordable homes for our residents and the plan sets out how we will work towards this over the next few years.  This will include exploring opportunities to acquire and provide homes within the borough and outside of Tower Hamlets.  We also plan to continue to invest in a range of different types of housing provision, some of which will provide additional investment income which will be used to further support our core charitable social housing activities.

Whilst our estate regeneration programme is now coming to an end, the plan sets out ambitious proposals to continue investing in major repairs and improvements to our estates in the period through to 2024. This is in line with EeH commitment to effectively manage our housing assets with investment of around £40m during this period.

Overall EeH financial position remains robust and prudently managed with, in particular, a lower level of loan debt per unit than many other housing associations and an appropriate risk management strategy in place with the necessary risk and financial stress testing undertaken on a regular basis.

Finally, the plan sets out the commitment of the Board to continuing to support resident involvement in our work and the services we provide with a key role for estate boards in this process.  EeH will continue to actively encourage residents to get involved through a range of opportunities including joining the estate boards and the Board of EeH.
