Government Testing Programme - Cladding Systems

All owners and landlords of residential buildings are being kept advised of the results of the testing programme of cladding systems currently being undertaken on behalf of the Government by the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

Tests No. 3 and 4 involve the fire retardant FR version of ACM panels together with PIR and stonewool insulation. The Government has now announced the results of test No. 3 which confirm that the fire retardant version of the panels has been found to be non compliant.

EeH has previously confirmed that Denning Point is partially clad in the FR version of the ACM panels. The cladding system on the block also comprises solid aluminium panels at each floor level with intumescent fire breaks installed at each level. The installation behind the panels is phenolic Kingspan insulation. This exact combined system has not been tested by the government.

Residents have been kept regularly informed of measures that have been taken to ensure the safety of the block and EeH continue to follow any new Government guidance in respect to fire safety in such blocks. On carrying out a full Fire Risk Assessment inspection of Denning Point in June of this year the London Fire Brigade noted no issues.

Following the announcement of the testing regime EeH has been in regular contact with the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the BRE with regard to further testing of different components and types of cladding in order to identify an effective solution with respect to partial or full cladding replacement.
